Marquette Bank Wins Excellence and Innovation BKD Award Presented by CBAI
Community Bankers Association of Illinois & BKD co-sponsor award recognizing high-performing member banks
SPRINGFIELD, IL – Robert J. Wingert, president of the Community Bankers Association of Illinois (CBAI), and Gary Genenbacher, partner and industry leader for BKD National Financial Services Group’s Illinois office, announced that Marquette Bank, Chicago is the recipient of the 2017 Excellence & Innovation BKD Award Presented by CBAI at the 43rd Annual CBAI Convention & Exposition held recently in Springfield, IL.
Co-sponsored by CBAI and BKD, the award — now in its 19th year — recognizes high-performing CBAI members that implement innovative ideas demonstrating a commitment to their employees, customers, shareholders, and communities through exceptional programming.
Marquette Bank won for its: “Affordable Housing Foundation” Initiative. The Foundation was created in 2008 (first year of implementation was 2009) to provide a funding source focused on affordable housing. The program aims to provide assistance in the form of down payments and/or closing-cost grants to help make home ownership affordable for lower-income borrowers. Since the year of its inception, total home/buyer assistance/donations have totaled more than $1 million; averaging approximately $135,000 per year in total assistance and up to $5,000 in assistance for each individual home buyer. In 2016, the Foundation provided nearly $70,000 to 30 first-time home buyers.
