Orland Park, IL (July 17, 2026) – Employees of Marquette Bank, a locally owned neighborhood bank, held the 16th Annual Evelyn’s Walk in Orland Park in memory of former employee Evelyn Schap, who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2010. More than 60 bank employees and family members participated in the walk, raising over $1,500 to benefit the Rolfe Pancreatic Cancer Foundation. This year, Marquette Bank will be recognized with the
Rolfe Philanthropy Award for Community, Partnership, Impact at the foundation’s Progress Forward Gala in November.
“We are grateful for the support of Marquette Bank’s senior management team, our partnership with the Rolfe Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, and Evelyn’s extended family, who show up every year,” said Nina Sonsikoski, Assistant Vice President of Marketing and lead organizer of the walk. “This walk is a way to remember Evelyn Schap, but it is also an opportunity for our employees to honor loved ones lost to pancreatic cancer, including my father, who passed away a year after Evelyn.”
According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 67,530 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer each year, and about 52,740 people die from the disease annually.
Evelyn’s Walk is part of the Marquette Neighborhood Commitment, which focuses on addressing four critical community needs: hunger, shelter and housing, education, and health and wellness. Each month, Marquette Bank coordinates employee volunteer efforts, completes community service projects, and partners with local organizations and nonprofits.
